Amazon of Rights

The 'Amazon of Rights' project, based at the Research Institute for Sustainability (RIFS) in Potsdam and funded by the Volkswagen Foundation with €330,000, focuses on understanding ecocentric normativity and its social realities within the Amazon river system.
The project integrates documentary filmmaking into the research methodology, exploring the rights of the river and the efforts of local youth to protect ancestral territories in the Amazon. The pilot documentary film 'Jatun Yacu' was co-created as part of this initiative.
Igor Karim serves as the Visual & Media Coordinator, assisting with the ethical and theoretical aspects of scientific filmmaking and integrating film production into the research methodology.
